Kim Ye Seul, known professionally as Maeng Seung Ji, is a South Korean comedienne turned actress. She graduated from Yewon University of Arts and made her debut in 2013 as part of the 20th open recruitment for comedians at MBC. Before debuting, she had experience working as part of a theater troupe and after passing the entry test she became a regular of MBC's "Indulge in Comedy". However, the show was relegated to Friday nights, so as the time slot was usually ignored by the audience, she had a hard time making her name known to the public. It was until she appeared in the variety show "Infinite Challenge" where people began noticing her after her performance as a reporter in several segments of the show. She served as a reporter for the 2013 Chuseok Special Idol Star Athletics Championships and she won the Best New Actress Award in the Comedy Category at the 2013 MBC Entertainment Awards. In 2014, she caused controversy by apearing on "Real Men - Female Soldier Special Season 1" completely unfamiliar with the nature of the show and wearing a tank top and chewing gum. She was criticized by the other female participants and her image was damaged during the show but she later blamed her agency for forcing her to dress that way and act foolishly during the show. One year later, she appeared in an adult film which caused yet another scandal. She currently is more focused on working as a theater actress and also has her own Youtube channel and podcast.
